Edzani Rakwambo, Winner of the BYLI Science and Innovation Challenge 2019

The young scientist of the year award was won by 18-year-old Edzani Rakwambo from Gondeni. The matric pupil from Tshivhase secondary school emerged as the overall winner of the BYLI science and innovation challenge 2019 for his project titled “The primary sector hydraulics robot”.
The young man came up with a brilliant 5 in 1 machine that will save local farmers and constructors a lot of money that is spent on fuels.
He explains that his invention is a truck that performs the duties of various construction and agricultural vehicles including a tractor, skid-steer loader, grader, bull dosser and excavator.  Edzani’s robot uses only water and air to function, both of which are environmentally friendly and of a lower cost. The young man is the Agri Tech Hero of the 21st century and will be heading to London to present his invention at the London International Youth Science Forum. Edzani explained that he is very excited about going to London and he cannot wait to explore and learn more about inventing products that are going to assist his community
